Deck Tile Supply & Installation

Deck Tile Installation — Toronto & the GTA

For condo balconies, rooftop terraces, and existing concrete patios where building a new structural deck isn't possible, we supply and install modular deck tile systems that transform an existing surface into a finished outdoor space. We source from established composite, IPE, porcelain, and pedestal-system suppliers, handle the install and drainage planning, and package warranty registration with the labour — so you have one accountable Toronto-area contractor for both the product and the build.

What We Do

Deck tile systems supplied, installed, and warranty-registered

Pedestal & Interlocking Systems

Modular pedestal-mount and interlocking deck tile systems that sit over existing concrete with no permanent bonding — the right choice for rooftops, balconies, and surfaces where future removal matters.

Composite Deck Tiles

Composite tiles for rooftop and patio installs — moisture-resistant, freeze-thaw stable, and low-maintenance once installed. We source from established composite-tile suppliers and bundle warranty registration with the install.

IPE & Hardwood Deck Tiles

IPE and other dense hardwood tiles for the look of a wood deck on an existing surface. Higher up-front cost than composite; we walk through the maintenance trade-offs before you commit.

Porcelain Deck Tiles

Large-format porcelain tiles on pedestal systems — clean modern look, excellent freeze-thaw performance, and well-suited to rooftop terraces where weight and wind matter.

Rooftop Deck Installations

Rooftop tile decks on existing concrete or membrane surfaces, with attention to wind-uplift, weight distribution, and drainage paths that the building envelope expects.

Drainage & Slope Planning

Existing surfaces rarely drain perfectly. We assess slope and drainage before tile install and use pedestal systems or shims to keep water moving the right way under the finished surface.

Recent Deck & Outdoor Surface Projects

These projects show the kind of decks and outdoor surfaces we work on across Toronto and the GTA — the same craft applies when installing modular tile systems on existing balconies, rooftops, and patios.

Multi-Level Composite Deck with Glass Railing & Retaining Wall Integration

This project involved the construction of a large-scale multi-level composite deck system fully integrated with the surrounding landscape and pool environment. The deck begins along the side elevation of the home and extends toward the rear yard, gradually elevating as the grade drops. Built with high-performance composite decking boards and finished with aluminum glass railing, the structure delivers modern transparency and long-term durability. Three staircase access points create smooth transitions between the upper living deck, the lower entertainment platform, and the pool area. To stabilize the surrounding terrain and define outdoor zones, 6x6 timber retaining walls were installed around the deck perimeter. These retaining structures were finished with smart panel cladding, creating a refined appearance while forming structured flower and planting beds throughout the yard. The result is a cohesive outdoor living environment where structural decking, landscape retention, and greenery combine into a unified architectural system.

Permit-Approved Two-Level Composite Deck with Waterproof System

This project involved the design and construction of a fully custom two-level composite deck completed through a formal permit process, including detailed drawings, submission, and municipal approval. All structural plans were prepared in accordance with local building code requirements. Permit applications were submitted, reviewed, and approved prior to construction, ensuring full compliance with safety and engineering standards. The finished structure features upper and lower composite deck levels, built using high-performance decking boards engineered for long-term durability. The perimeter is completed with aluminum glass railing, delivering modern aesthetics and unobstructed views. A fully integrated waterproof drainage system was installed beneath both deck levels to protect structural components and maintain dry, usable space below. The underside of the upper deck was enclosed with a finished soffit ceiling system, incorporating hardwired recessed spotlights for ambient illumination. The lower level, with approximately four feet of clearance, was enclosed using smart panel cladding to create secure and functional storage space. All structural framing was carefully concealed, and support posts were wrapped in composite material to eliminate exposed wood surfaces. The result is a permit-approved, engineered outdoor structure built to the highest standards of durability, safety, and craftsmanship.

Custom Multi-Level Wood Deck with Waterfall Stairs & Under-Deck Storage

This project involved the construction of a custom second-storey wood deck that transitions into a multi-level outdoor living system, designed to maximize both functionality and architectural presence. The upper deck extends from the second floor of the home and steps down through a 4–5 step transition into a larger connected lower wood deck. From there, a custom-built waterfall-style staircase descends toward the yard, branching across multiple directional sections to create a dramatic and visually striking flow. Crafted with premium wood decking and finished with wood railings incorporating aluminum balusters, the structure balances natural warmth with structural durability. The underside of the deck was enclosed with smart panel cladding, transforming the lower area into functional storage space while maintaining a clean exterior finish. Additional custom features include built-in benches and integrated flower boxes, enhancing both comfort and visual character. Solar cap lights were installed on railing posts, and solar lighting was integrated along each stair tread, creating a refined and illuminated nighttime presence. This multi-level deck stands as a true craftsmanship project — blending structure, design complexity, and practical outdoor living.

Our Process

How it works

01

Site Assessment & Surface Check

We start with a site visit to check the existing surface — slope, drainage, structural capacity, and condition. You get a written assessment before any product or pricing decisions.

02

Material Selection from Supplier Catalogue

We walk you through the tile systems that fit your surface, exposure, and budget — composite, IPE, porcelain, or pedestal-mount — and place the order through our supplier partners. Warranty registration is handled as part of this step.

03

Install, Drainage & Warranty Registration

Install runs in a tight window (typically 1 to 3 days for residential surfaces). We finish with drainage validation, a walk-through, and the supplier warranty registered to you under our installer credentials.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does deck tile installation cost in Toronto?

Deck tile installation in the Toronto area typically runs from about $25 to $80 per square foot installed, depending on tile material and the supply arrangement. Composite tiles commonly fall in the $25 to $45 range, IPE and high-density wood tiles run $50 to $80, and pedestal systems with porcelain top tiles often land between $50 and $90 including the pedestals. We provide a written quote after a site visit so the figure reflects the actual surface, the system you choose, and whether we supply the tiles or you do.

Can deck tiles go over my existing concrete patio or balcony?

Yes, in most cases. Modular tile systems are designed to sit over existing concrete decks, patios, balconies, and rooftop terraces. We start with a surface assessment to confirm the slab is level enough, drains correctly, and can carry the additional weight. If the slope, drainage, or surface condition needs work, we address it before the tile system goes down. We will tell you up front if a surface needs more preparation than tile alone can solve.

Do you supply the tiles or do I buy them myself?

Both options work. If you have already purchased tiles from a retailer, we install them as a labour-only job. More often, we supply the tiles through our partner suppliers and bundle the supply with the install — this lets us coordinate warranty registration, drainage planning, and product selection in one quote, and it usually simplifies the project for you.

Which tile system is best for Toronto winters?

For Toronto and the GTA's freeze-thaw climate, composite tiles and porcelain tiles on pedestal systems handle the cycle best — both resist moisture absorption and the expansion that cracks lesser materials. IPE wood tiles look excellent but need more maintenance to hold up over many winters. We advise on the right material based on your surface, exposure, and how much maintenance you want to do.

Can deck tiles be removed later?

Yes, for modular and interlocking tile systems. Tiles lift up cleanly without damaging the underlying surface, which matters for condo balconies where you may want to leave the unit as you found it when selling. Glued or mortared tiles are a different story — we focus on modular systems specifically because of this advantage.

How long does deck tile installation take?

Most deck tile installations take 1 to 3 days for a typical Toronto balcony, patio, or small rooftop. Larger rooftop decks or installations that require surface prep, drainage work, or pedestal-system levelling can run longer. We give you a realistic timeline at the quote stage so you can plan condo board notifications and access.
