Dual Ground-Level Trex® Foggy Wharf Decks with Glass Railing & Pool Access

This project involved the construction of two custom ground-level decks built using Trex® Foggy Wharf composite decking from the Trex Enhance® Naturals collection. The primary deck features aluminum glass railing and includes two integrated access gates — one providing entry from the garden and the other offering direct access toward the pool area. The transparent glass railing system preserves open sightlines while maintaining safety and modern architectural appeal. A secondary ground-level deck was constructed on the opposite side of the home, designed specifically as a dedicated lounge zone ideal for placing sunbeds and outdoor seating. Together, the two platforms create defined yet connected outdoor living areas that enhance functionality and flow throughout the backyard. Trex® Foggy Wharf boards were selected for their contemporary light grey tone, durability, fade resistance, and low-maintenance performance — ideal for high-traffic and pool-adjacent environments. The result is a cohesive dual-deck layout that balances safety, comfort, and refined modern design.

Challenge

Coordinating two separate ground-level deck areas required precise layout planning to maintain visual continuity while defining functional zones. Integrating dual gated glass railing access points demanded accurate alignment to ensure safety compliance, smooth operation, and balanced architectural symmetry.

Downtown Backyard Wood Deck with Privacy Screens & Fence Upgrade

This project involved the construction of a custom wooden deck for a downtown Toronto home situated on a narrow urban lot with a compact backyard. Designed to maximize functionality within limited space, the deck provides structured outdoor living while maintaining privacy and accessibility. A side-entry staircase allows access from the front passageway, while a rear staircase with integrated gate provides direct backyard exit. To enhance privacy between closely spaced neighboring properties, privacy screens were installed along both sides of the deck. The rear boundary was enclosed with new fencing, creating a defined and secure outdoor area. Additionally, the left-side property line fence was replaced and upgraded to improve visual consistency and structural integrity alongside the new deck build. The result is a refined urban backyard solution that balances space efficiency, privacy, and durable wood craftsmanship within a tight downtown setting.
