Fence Replacement with Full Demolition & Post Removal

This project involved the complete replacement of existing fencing along the right side and rear property lines of the home. The process began with the full demolition and removal of the old fence structure. Existing posts, including deeply embedded post bases and deteriorated footings, were extracted from the ground to ensure a clean and stable foundation for the new installation. Removing old post remnants required careful excavation and site preparation to restore proper soil conditions before new structural posts could be installed. The new fence was constructed using 4x4 pressure-treated posts and reinforced 2x4 framing. A semi-privacy vertical board design was implemented to provide balanced separation while maintaining airflow. Metal post caps were installed for durability and finished appearance, and a new gate was integrated into the fence line for access. The result is a structurally reinforced fence replacement that eliminates aging materials and delivers long-term performance and clean boundary definition.

Challenge

Downtown Deck-to-Garage Privacy Fence with Sliding Gate & Metal Insert

This downtown Toronto project involved the construction of a fully enclosed privacy fence section designed to connect the rear deck directly to the garage while maintaining security and architectural consistency. From the home’s rear entrance, the homeowner steps onto the deck and can move seamlessly through a custom sliding gate into the garage area. The sliding configuration was selected to maximize functionality within a tight urban lot, eliminating swing-clearance issues and improving access flow. The newly built fence section fully encloses the garage connection area, providing complete privacy and secure boundary definition. The sliding gate is enhanced with a premium metal insert detail, adding a refined architectural accent that elevates the overall appearance. Additionally, the existing fence section along the left side of the deck was fully removed due to age and deterioration. The area was cleaned, rebuilt, and upgraded with new materials. Posts were painted black for a bold modern finish, while the fence boards were professionally stained to achieve a rich, cohesive look. The final result is a luxury-grade downtown backyard upgrade combining deck functionality, secure garage access, full privacy, and modern detailing.
